More About Our Programs
Smart Manoeuvring
Image and Impact
This module (also known as Professional Image, Self Presentation, Promoting Yourself in the Workplace, and Business Image) examines personal image from many angles, starting with what lies beneath—the psychology of image, how first impressions are really created, how people are more than their image, and the self-fulfilling prophecy.
Other dimensions of image are then examined, including: the fundamentals of a professional image; taking your personality to work; do colour and style really make a difference; smart business—suited or not (an intriguing look at the business casual phenomenon and its positive and less-than-positive impacts).
Image and Impact can be run as a short (1 - 2 hour) session which is a high-level session, or over a half or full day, which allows for fuller discussion and learning. <=back
Networking for Business
The business landscape we operate in is one where relationships matter more than ever. A colleague can quickly become a client, a supplier a competitor. “It’s not what you know but who you know” is certainly true. This statement takes on a completely new light when networking is approached as a business skill that everyone should acquire, regardless of level/title, current skill level, or attitude.
Networking For Business is usually run as a half to full-day workshop, and includes a range of hugely practical and immediately implementable tools and strategies that everyone (from the novice to the master) can use. We also run a brilliant networking skill builder—The Great Networking Game for Associations and Conferences—a fun way to learn! <=back
Coexistence and Communication
Communication
In the Communication module we use the Business Styles 4-quadrant model—one of life’s great gifts, to understand others—simply, quickly and accurately. For those organisations who need a ready reckoner which can be used in any situation—from meetings to presentations—this tool is head-and-shoulders above any other model.
We also use the 6-step Communication Model to break down the elements great communicators use. We then practice these tools to help participants aid retention and communicate more effectively when they return to the workplace.
This module is usually run as a half-day minimum, and is exceptionally well-rated as a full day experience. <=back
Negotiation Skills
Our Negotiation Skills facilitator is a global expert, who has negotiated in over 20 countries around the world, in industrial and multi-million dollar corporate environments. We give participants the gift of that hard-won experience, boiled down to the Top 10 Negotiating Tips every business person should know.
The Negotiation Skills module can be run as a one-hour keynote presentation with some interaction, through to a half-day workshop involving further interaction with the audience. We also offer a negotiation consultation service. <=back
Presentation Skills
In the Presentation Skills module, we break skills down in The Basics of preparing, planning, and structuring your presentation, along with handling the ever-present nerves and how to understand your audience. The Basics is usually run as 1 full-day session or as 2 half-day sessions.
The Advanced Skills of presenting include engaging with the audience, managing questions, telling stories, persuasion, framing and using visual aids effectively. This session usually takes another full-day or 2 half-days to run. <=back
Team Development
Some of the team development sessions we have run have been geared around enrolling team members in specific team behaviours and/or team values. A clear understanding of your team’s current situation is critical to designing an appealing and helpful team session.
Team Development sessions are usually a half-day in length at the minimum, and are often a full day, depending on desired outcomes. <=back>
Heading Due North
Internal Consulting Skills
Key people working in the traditional areas of HR, IT/MIS, Policy, Professional Development/Training, Communications, Marketing, Client Service, and similar areas absolutely need to master Internal Consulting Skills.
Staff facing External clients also need to master the skills required to understand client needs and match them to options and solutions which meet those needs.
Unfortunately, few people are naturally gifted in this area. Our Internal Consulting Module is deliberately designed to develop these skills, through a project-driven two day workshop.
We use real life projects and clients as often as we can. This approach requires more time in the pre-program set-up phase, but the results speak for themselves.
Participants leave the course with the actual skills they need to use when back in the work place. If you really want your people to be great internal consultants, talk to us about this program. <=back
Scoping Skills
The 17 point Template is woven into a 2 day program, where teams of 3-4 people engage with real life clients and projects to create a fully scoped out project, culminating in a client presentation at the end of day 2.
This is a unique workshop which receives exceptional ratings from participants and executive directors, and creates consultants who are ready for action. <=back
Base Camp Essentials
Quality Client Service
In the Quality Client Service module, we use a multitude of tools, including Covey’s Circles, the practical Top Ten Dos and Taboos, the role of perception, how to exceed expectations, and the powerful Neuro Linguistic Programming NLP Triple Descriptions to frame the workshop.
This program also includes a Reality Bites section, where a list of up to 12 real life issues are discussed. These issues are composed from extensive pre-program work, where clients are interviewed and issues identified. During the workshop session, identified issues are discussed at length to great effect. Differences in approach are discussed, including their relative merits.
This program is well-run over 2 half-days, or as a full-day session. <=back
Managing Difficult Situations
Managing Difficult Situations starts by examining State Management—the thoughts and feelings that lead to the particular results we enjoy (or don’t) when interacting with clients.
We look at how different people respond and behave under stress, and what to do about each type. Boulton’s Assertiveness continuum is used in conjunction with 5 strategies to help you handle yourself under stress. We introduce 10 ideas for resolving conflicts, which, if implemented, will work.
This module is best run as a half-day workshop, often in conjunction with other modules such as Quality Client Service, Great Time Management, Effective Meeting Skills, Communication and Negotiation Skills. <=back
Managing Change
In the Managing Change module, we provide a set of executable tools and insights that can be used the moment participants step back into their changing environment. We provide an opportunity for people to understand their typical responses under changing (and this often means, stressful) circumstances.
Managing Change can be a great launching pad to examine the Change Cycle and tools to better deal with change no matter what stage of the cycle you are currently in. <=back
Consultancies
Interpersonal Consulting
The primary tool we use for Interpersonal Consulting is the Myers Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI). We can also provide some 1:1 or small group consulting around professional image and self-presentation skills. Managers who are seeking to break into the executive circle often find this particularly useful. Consultation and facilitation around specific issues such as change and client service projects are available. Talk to us about your needs. <=back
Negotiation Consulting
Dan is an exceptional practitioner of negotiation, and can work with individuals 1:1 or in small groups. Dan’s expertise lies in strategising an effective negotiation approach—a rare skill; coaching executives behind the scenes so they can competently front a negotiation table—and stick to the strategy; and fronting negotiations himself—Dan is a master at this. Talk to us about your negotiation needs. <=back
Becoming A Corporate Facilitator
Corporate facilitators come in many different flavours. We know corporate facilitators with backgrounds as diverse as anthropology, sales, counselling, teaching, law, acting, social work, outdoor adventuring, academia and industrial procurement.
Some facilitators work at a more tactical level and their rates tend to reflect this (some facilitators charge as little as $60 an hour). Other facilitators deliver high-quality work for blue-chip clients and their rates can be as high as $10,000 per day (we know of one exceptional individual who charges $5000 an hour–yes an hour). The average corporate facilitator is likely to charge their clients between $2000 and $5000 per day. |

How to Become a Corporate Facilitator is a 5 1/2 day course designed to exit you at the average level and should pay for itself within 1½ - 4 days of training delivery time. This course, run by The Corporate Compass, includes an exceptional faculty led by Jill Chivers.
Jill has been designing and delivering corporate workshops for over a decade. Client comments include “Jill was born to do this”, “Jill is the best facilitator we have ever had” and “An exceptional facilitator and workshop leader”. These comments come from international, blue chip organisations who run frequent (and generally top-level and expensive) training programs. The Corporate Compass’ clients are 100% referral-based, and the company turns over 6 figures on this basis alone.
How to Become a Corporate Facilitator is scheduled 3 months in advance to suit the timetable of participants and faculty. There is a limit to the number of participants we accept in each program, so act now to secure your place.
